Terms of Use

Arthur Regulatory Alerts

Last Updated: 26 October 2026

Key Terms Summary

This summary highlights provisions that may affect your rights and obligations. Read it together with the full Terms of Use. Key terms you should be aware of in using the Service are:

Information service, not advice: Arthur Regulatory Alerts is a technology service that monitors Australian federal regulatory and legislative sources and sends you alerts, digests and summaries prepared using automated tools (including artificial intelligence). It does not provide legal advice, financial product advice, compliance advice or any other professional advice. Using Arthur Regulatory Alerts does not make you a client of ours and does not create a solicitor-client or any other professional relationship. Summaries and other Outputs are general information only, are current only as at the date of the relevant Source publication, and may be incomplete, out of date or inaccurate. You must read the Source and obtain independent advice from an appropriately qualified professional before acting on or relying on anything the Service provides.

AI summaries can be wrong: Summaries are generated by artificial intelligence. We check that each quotation in a summary appears in the source text, but that check does not confirm that the summary itself is accurate, complete or current. Always read the source.

Coverage and timing are not guaranteed: We monitor publicly accessible federal sources only. Sources can change, become unavailable or restrict access, and we may miss or delay items. You remain responsible for monitoring regulatory developments that affect you.

No liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service and its Outputs, including for errors, omissions, delays, failures to deliver and any reliance on them. Nothing in these Terms affects any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot be excluded.

Your information: We collect your email address and delivery preferences to send you the Service. Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. We do not ask you to upload documents or other content.

Free service: The Service is currently free. We will not charge you for anything without your agreement. If we introduce paid features, they will be offered on separate or updated terms.

Unsubscribing and changes: You can unsubscribe at any time. We may change, suspend or discontinue the Service, and we will give you notice where required by these Terms.

1. Terms of Use

(a) In these Terms of Use, “we”, “us” and “our” means ALG Pty Ltd (ACN 695 606 725), trading as Arthur Regulatory Alerts. Please read these Terms of Use carefully. They apply to your use of the Arthur Regulatory Alerts website at https://alag.com.au and the email alerts, digests, summaries and related content we provide through it (together, the Service). By subscribing to or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.

(b) We may revise these Terms of Use from time to time. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice before a revision takes effect (unless we cannot do so because the revision is required for us to comply with applicable laws), by email to the address you subscribed with or by a notice on our website. If you do not agree to a revision, you can unsubscribe at any time and your use of the Service will end.

2. Using the Service

2.1 Subscribing

(a) To receive alerts you must subscribe by providing an email address. You must be at least 18 years of age. The Service is intended for professional and business use.

(b) You must provide an email address that you own or are authorised to use, and you must keep your subscription details accurate. We may send a confirmation message to verify your address.

(c) The Service does not currently require a user name or password. If we introduce user accounts, additional terms about account security will apply.

2.2 General Restrictions

In using the Service, you must not:

(a) subscribe an email address that is not yours or that you are not authorised to use, or impersonate any person or entity;

(b) use the Service for any purpose that is unlawful;

(c) knowingly introduce viruses, spyware, corrupted files or any similar software or programs that may damage the Service or any hardware or software;

(d) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, our systems or networks connected to them, or probe, scan or test their vulnerability;

(e) overload, scrape, or use automated means (other than ordinary email software) to extract content or data from the Service;

(f) reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the Service or any proprietary methods used in it;

(g) use the Service, or its outputs, to create a competing product or service; or

(h) engage in any other conduct that inhibits any other person from using or enjoying the Service.

2.3 Availability and Support

(a) We endeavour to make the Service available, but access and delivery may be affected by network or equipment capacity, internet interruptions, scheduled or unscheduled maintenance, changes to or unavailability of regulatory sources, email delivery problems, or the other reasons referred to in paragraph (c). If interruptions or errors occur due to circumstances within our control, we will try to resolve them in a timely way.

(b) If you need help, contact us through the contact form at https://alag.com.au/#contact.

(c) We may temporarily limit or suspend the Service, with immediate effect where reasonably necessary, including for security, maintenance or operational reasons, because a source or service provider has changed or become unavailable, or to prevent misuse. Where practicable we will notify you in advance, and we will restore the Service as soon as reasonably possible.

2.4 Changes to the Service

The Service is provided on a software-as-a-service basis. We may from time to time vary, modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, any part of the Service, including its features, the sources and jurisdictions it covers, delivery schedules, and the third-party providers we use. This may be needed to address security or legal requirements, to reflect changes in sources or applicable laws, or to improve the Service. We will give you reasonable notice of material changes where practicable, and at least 30 days’ notice of a change that removes a feature you were using, except where an urgent change is required for security or legal reasons.

3. Sources and Content

(a) The Service monitors publicly accessible regulatory and legislative sources, such as federal regulators, legislation and gazette publications, Parliamentary bills, and industry bodies, as listed on our website from time to time (Sources). Text, titles and other material published by the Sources (Source Content) belongs to its respective owners.

(b) We do not control the Sources. They may change their structure, restrict automated access, remove material or become unavailable at any time, which may reduce or interrupt coverage without notice.

(c) Coverage is limited. Unless we say otherwise on our website, the Service does not cover courts, tribunals, or state and territory sources, members-only material, or material that is only available as an image without readable text. We do not promise that any particular Source, document type or item will be covered.

(d) The Service is not exhaustive or real-time. Items may be captured late, out of order or not at all, and Source Content may be changed or withdrawn after we capture it.

(e) The Service links to Sources. We are not responsible for the content, availability, terms or privacy practices of any Source or other third-party site.

(f) The Service does not require you to upload documents or other content. Please do not send us confidential, privileged or sensitive information. Anything you send us (for example, when you contact us) is not treated as confidential or privileged by reason of being sent, other than as set out in our Privacy Policy. Contacting us through the website or by any other means does not create a lawyer-client relationship with ALG Pty Ltd or any other person, and we are not obliged to act for you or to keep a matter open for you.

(g) Third-party links. The Service and its emails link to Source websites and other third-party sites. We do not control or endorse them and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. You use them at your own risk.

4. Specific Warnings and Disclaimers Regarding Outputs and Service Use

(a) In these Terms of Use, Outputs means any content generated or provided through the Service, including alerts, daily digests, AI-generated summaries (including descriptions of who is affected, key dates, document type and status, and extracted quotations), priority flags and classifications, and any related messages.

(b) NOT LEGAL ADVICE – INDEPENDENT ADVICE REQUIRED

The Service uses artificial intelligence to read Source Content and generate Outputs. THE SERVICE DOES NOT PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE, COMPLIANCE ADVICE, FINANCIAL PRODUCT ADVICE OR ANY OTHER FORM OF PROFESSIONAL ADVICE, AND MUST NOT BE USED AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR SUCH ADVICE. Outputs are general information only. They are not provided to you as a client of any law firm or professional adviser, and they do not take into account your objectives, circumstances or obligations. We do not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence and Outputs are not financial product advice as defined in the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). Outputs are not “personal advice” or “general advice” under that Act, and are not legal advice. You must obtain independent professional advice before acting on, relying on, or implementing any Output.

You acknowledge and agree that:

(i) Independent review: Outputs must be independently reviewed and verified against the Source Content, and where they relate to your obligations, by a qualified legal practitioner or other appropriately qualified professional, before you act on them, publish them, submit them to a regulator, or otherwise rely on them. Where an Output relates to a matter regulated by ASIC, APRA, AUSTRAC or any other regulatory body, you should seek specific advice from a professional with expertise in the relevant regulatory regime;

(ii) No guarantee of accuracy: Outputs may contain errors or omissions, and may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, outdated or otherwise unreliable, including because they replicate errors in Source Content or because of the limits of artificial intelligence. Our process checks that quotations included in an AI summary appear in the Source Content we captured. That check does not verify that a summary, a date, a description of who is affected, a classification or any other part of an Output is correct or complete, and a quotation may be accurate yet taken out of context;

(iii) Withheld summaries: Where we cannot verify a quotation, or the Source Content is unavailable or too limited, we may withhold the summary and send only the title and a link. Absence of a summary does not mean an item is unimportant;

(iv) Priority flags: Priority flags and classifications are generated automatically using general rules. They are not an assessment of the significance of an item to you, and an item that is not flagged may still matter;

(v) Your responsibility: You remain solely responsible for:

your organisation’s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations;

monitoring regulatory and legislative developments and assessing their impact on you;

interpreting and applying any requirement to your circumstances; and

making your own decisions, including any decision not to act.

(c) Accordingly, to the extent permitted by law, we do not: (i) give you any assurance that Outputs will meet your requirements, be suitable for your purposes or result in regulatory compliance; or (ii) accept responsibility for regulatory penalties, fines, enforcement actions, or loss suffered as a result of your reliance on Outputs.

(d) Alerts and digests: While the Service may notify you of regulatory and legislative developments, not all developments will be captured, and timing of delivery may vary. Emails can be delayed, filtered as spam or not delivered. You should not rely on the Service as your only means of monitoring developments that are important or time-sensitive for you.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

(a) The Service, including its software, methods, selection and arrangement of content, and its design, is subject to copyright and possibly other intellectual property rights belonging to us or our licensors.

(b) We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service and Outputs for your own internal business purposes.

(c) Source Content is owned by the Sources or other rights holders. Outputs link to and summarise Source Content, and nothing in these Terms of Use gives you any right in Source Content. You are responsible for complying with the terms of use that apply to Sources.

(d) We do not assert ownership of the facts reported in Outputs. Outputs may be similar to those provided to other subscribers.

(e) You may not: resell or redistribute Outputs to third parties as a service or as part of a product; use Outputs to create a competing product or service; extract or reverse engineer our methods or rules from Outputs; or represent Outputs as your own work or as legal advice.

(f) You may share individual Outputs with colleagues and advisers for your internal purposes, provided you retain the “Automated summary” label and the disclaimer and the link to the Source.

(g) Except as provided in these Terms of Use, any use or copying of the Service or its content for any other purpose is prohibited unless we give prior written consent. You may request consent by contacting us through the contact form at https://alag.com.au/#contact.

(h) You grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use and incorporate into the Service any suggestion, enhancement request, recommendation, correction or other feedback you provide to us relating to the Service.

6. Unsubscribing, Suspension and Discontinuation

(a) You may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe option in our emails or by contacting us through the contact form at https://alag.com.au/#contact. Unsubscribing takes effect promptly, and in any event within 5 business days, and ends your use of the Service.

(b) We may suspend or end your access to the Service immediately if you breach these Terms of Use. If we do, you must stop using the Service and these Terms of Use will terminate, except for provisions that by their nature survive.

(c) We may discontinue the Service, or end your access to it, at any time. Where practicable, we will give you reasonable notice. If you have paid for any part of the Service in advance and we discontinue it, we will refund the fees paid for the unused period.

(d) What we do with your personal information when you unsubscribe or the Service ends is described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Free Service and Future Paid Features

(a) The Service is currently provided free of charge. We do not collect credit card or payment details.

(b) We may introduce paid features or subscriptions in future. We will not charge you for anything unless you have first agreed to the relevant fees and terms. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you the fees, the billing period and any renewal terms before you are charged, and those terms will apply in addition to these Terms of Use.

(c) We may change what is included in the free Service on notice in accordance with clause 2.4.

8. Warranties and Liability

(a) THE SERVICE AND ALL OUTPUTS ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we expressly disclaim all warranties, representations and conditions of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, currency, title or non-infringement. All express or implied guarantees, warranties, representations, statements, terms and conditions relating to these Terms of Use and the Service that are not contained in these Terms of Use are excluded to the maximum extent permitted by law.

(b) In particular, and without limiting paragraph (a):

(i) we do not guarantee that your requirements will be met, that the Service will be uninterrupted or error free, that alerts will be delivered or delivered on time, that the Service is free of viruses or other harmful components, that Outputs will ensure regulatory compliance, or that Source Content or Outputs will be current or complete;

(ii) we cannot be responsible for any loss, corruption or interception of data sent to or from the Service which occurs outside our computer systems (such as while being sent over the internet or by email);

(iii) we do not warrant the accuracy, adequacy, completeness or currency of Outputs or Source Content. Outputs summarising applicable law or regulation are current only to the date on which they were generated and may not reflect subsequent changes, amendments or guidance;

(iv) the Service uses artificial intelligence (AI Services) to analyse Source Content and generate Outputs. AI systems may not always be accurate or error-free. You are solely responsible for verifying and independently validating any information provided through the AI Services before acting on or relying on it;

(v) the Service and Outputs are provided for general reference and information purposes only and are not intended to be used as a substitute for professional advice or judgement. Nothing in the Service, Outputs or any content made available through the Service creates a solicitor-client relationship, a compliance advisory relationship or any other professional relationship between you and us;

(vi) the Service relies on Source Content prepared by third parties. We do not verify that all Source Content is accurate or free of omissions, and we make no representation or warranty as to its accuracy, completeness or currency; and

(vii) we do not undertake to keep the Service updated with all regulatory or legislative changes in real time, or to provide regulatory advice or interpretation.

(c) Nothing in these Terms of Use excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, term, condition, warranty, or any right or remedy, implied or imposed by any law or legislation which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including the Australian Consumer Law, which contains guarantees that protect consumers in certain circumstances.

(d) If any guarantee, term, condition or warranty is implied into these Terms of Use under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable legislation (a Non-Excludable Provision) and we are able to limit your remedy for a breach of the Non-Excludable Provision, then our liability for breach of the Non-Excludable Provision is limited, at our option, to:

(i) in the case of goods, the replacement of the goods or the supply of equivalent goods, the repair of the goods, the payment of the cost of replacing the goods or of acquiring equivalent goods, or the payment of the cost of having the goods repaired; or

(ii) in the case of services, the supplying of the services again, or the payment of the cost of having the services supplied again.

(e) Subject only to the Non-Excludable Provisions, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability to you, and we are not liable to you, for any loss, damage, cost or expense of any kind (whether direct or indirect, and including loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, anticipated savings, data, regulatory fines, penalties or enforcement action) arising out of or in connection with the Service, the Outputs, the Source Content or these Terms of Use, including any error in, omission from, delay in or failure to deliver any alert, summary or other Output, and any reliance you or anyone else places on them. You use the Service at your own risk.

(f) Without limiting paragraph (e), and subject to the Non-Excludable Provisions and to the maximum extent permitted by law, no measure of damages will, under any circumstances, include special, indirect, consequential, incidental or punitive damages.

(g) Without limiting paragraph (e), any liability we may have to you is reduced to the extent that your acts or omissions (or those of a third party) contribute to or cause the loss or liability.

(h) You must use reasonable efforts to mitigate any loss you may suffer in connection with these Terms of Use.

(i) The exclusions and limitations of liability in this clause apply regardless of the basis on which such liability arises, whether in contract, breach of warranty, tort (including negligence), in equity, under statute, under an indemnity or on any other basis.

9. Privacy

(a) In using the Service, you give us personal information, including your email address and delivery preferences.

(b) By using the Service, you consent to us collecting, storing, using and disclosing your personal information as permitted by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), other applicable privacy laws and our Privacy Policy, which is available on our website.

(c) Subject to these Terms of Use, we may store and disclose personal information in various locations, including overseas, in connection with providing the Service, as set out in our Privacy Policy.

10. Force Majeure

Neither party will be liable for any failure or delay in performing any of its obligations under these Terms of Use if the failure or delay is caused by circumstances beyond that party’s reasonable control. This may include any failure or outage experienced by our hosting, email, AI or other service providers, or by the Sources. This clause does not apply to any obligation to pay money.

11. General

(a) If any part of these Terms of Use is held to be unenforceable, the unenforceable part is to be given effect to the greatest extent possible and the remainder will remain in full force and effect.

(b) These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia.

(c) Nothing in these Terms of Use limits any liability either party may have in connection with any representations or other communications (either oral or written) made prior to or during the term of these Terms of Use where such liability cannot be excluded (including under section 18 of the Australian Consumer Law). Subject to the foregoing, these Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between us and you in relation to the Service and supersede all other (prior or contemporaneous) communications or displays, whether electronic, oral or written, between us and you in relation to the Service.

(d) Your use of the Service is conducted electronically and you agree that we may communicate with you electronically for all aspects of your use of the Service, including by sending you electronic notices.

(e) The provisions of these Terms of Use which by their nature survive termination or expiry will survive termination or expiry.

(f) No waiver, delay or failure by us to take any action will constitute or be construed as a waiver of that or any other term, condition, option, privilege or right we may have.

(g) The word “including” when used in these Terms of Use is not a term of limitation.
